OXM Magazine recently got a chance to speak to Epic Games’s Rod Fergusson who explained to them the popular industry trends happening now, as well as their focus on fan input to help decide where the Gears of War series goes next. When asked about the possibility of a FPS Gears of War, Rod Fergusson had this to say about the subject.
“I’m a big believer in never say never,” Fergusson said, of the prospect of Epic making a Gears of War first-person shooter. “It’s all about what’s interesting in the industry at the time and where fans want us to take it. We don’t want to say never but it’s not on the top of my mind either. We look at what makes sense and move in that direction.”
If done right, a FPS Gears of War could be a pretty neat experience. We have to continue to wonder what Gears of War Exile really was before it was cancelled earlier this year. Epic Games declined to comment on the reason for the cancellation, or what the game even was supposed to be.
If you’ve been living under a rock, the next iteration of the Gears of War franchise, Judgment, will be releasing on March 19, 2013.
