During the Xbox E3 briefing, Square Enix, publisher of the Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider franchises, announced the next installment in the award-winning Life is Strange series, Life is Strange: Before the Storm.

Titled Life is Strange: Before the Storm, the game takes place in Arcadia Bay, three years before the events of the first game. The game is centered around sixteen-year-old Chloe Price, who befriends the popular and beautiful Rachel Amber. When Rachel discovers a family secret, her dance with destiny screeches to a halt and her world is turned upside down. Together, Chloe and Rachel will have to give each other the strength to overcome their demons.

Head of Studio at Square Enix London Studios. Lee Singleton. had the following to say about the game:

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a key release for Square Enix this year and is being created as a direct response to fans asking to return to Arcadia Bay so they can revisit the characters they fell in love with. Many people can identify a particular person who influenced their life; the person that ultimately shaped who they became. Life is Strange: Before the Storm is about this exact moment.”

The first Life is Strange was developed by DONTNOD Entertainment in Paris, France. However, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is being developed by Deck Nine Games, a video game developer based in Denver, Colorado. Deck Nine’s first release was Rally Cross 2 for PlayStation 2 and its latest release was Ratchet: Deadlocked HD for PlayStation 3.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is scheduled to release on August 31, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
